In the philosophy of language, my work focuses on two main domains. First, the semantics of quotational and other hyperintensional contexts, with particular attention to Davidsonian theories. Second, foundational issues about meaning and reference, including the relation between truth-conditional and non-truth-conditional aspects of meaning, and the ways in which the reference of proper names is fixed and transmitted.
In the philosophy of mind, I'm interested in the nature of perceptual experiences (recently flirting with Naïve Realism), in the epistemology of perception, and in puzzles about intentionality, i.e., the property of mental phenomena of being directed toward objects.
Occasionally, I also work in the philosophy of fiction. Recently, I've been questioning the traditional view that storytelling involves some kind of pretense.
